How do I map unmapped columns?
After uploading your file, Cloze will automatically map as many columns as possible. If any columns remain unmapped, you can easily assign them to the correct fields.
What is Mapping?
Mapping connects a column in your file to a field in Cloze.
For example, mapping a “Lead Source” column to a custom field or an "Email Address" column to the email field in Cloze.
Step 1: Open Mapping
If there are unmapped columns:
- Tap Edit next to Edit Mapping

You’ll see:
- Left side: Columns from your file
- Right side: Fields in Cloze
Step 2: Assign a Field
- Tap Mapping for first person

- Find the field you want to map to (in this example the Purchase Anniversary custom field).
- Tap the + icon to begin mapping and select the field.

- Next to value, tap the dropdown and select Unmapped Columns. Select the column from your spreadsheet you want to map (in this example, the Purchase Anniversary date is the "Event 1 - Value" column in my spreadsheet).

Tip: If your column contains values (like “Advertisement” or “Referral”), you may need to match them to values in Cloze. You have a few options:
- Select an existing value in Cloze
- Pass Through – adds the value to Cloze (but it won’t be filterable)
- Fail Row Import – skips rows with unmatched values
- Tap Done and repeat until all columns are mapped.

- Return to the Review Mapping screen.
- Continue with Dry Run or Import.

Tips:
- If a column should map to multiple fields, select All Columns (instead of Unmapped Columns)
- Use Dry Run first to catch issues before importing
