What is an App ID? And how does it work with Unique ID?
What is an App ID?
An App ID tells Cloze where the contact information is coming from. It identifies the specific application or service (like another CRM or email system) that’s sending information to Cloze.
- The App ID should be a domain. The source should be in the format of a domain name and in all lower-case. Example:
salesforce.com
orcloze.com
- Once set, the App ID should not be changed. Changing it can cause serious issues in Cloze including (but not limited to) duplicate contacts.
What is a Unique ID?
A Unique ID is the number or identifier used in the application you are linking to. This could be a record ID, user ID, or another unique number from that system.
- The Unique ID must be unique and should NOT be reused.
- If the same App ID and Unique ID are used on a Person, Company or Project, Cloze will merge them together.
How App ID and Unique ID Work Together
- Cloze combines the App ID and Unique ID.
- This pair acts like a fingerprint, helping Cloze identify each person uniquely.
- Each time information is imported from the source application, Cloze automatically matches it to the correct person.
Use the Same App ID for Zapier
Always use the same App ID for all Zapier triggers and actions connected to Cloze.
- Keep the value consistent across every action from the same source.
- For example, do not mix
"na16.salesforce.com"
in one Zap and"salesforce.com"
in another. - Instead, always use the simple domain:
"salesforce.com"
.
Here are a few examples:
When sending Leads from salesforce.com to Cloze:
Source App ID = salesforce.com
Source Person Unique ID = Lead ID (salesforce.com’s unique lead identifier)
For example, if the Lead ID for a new Lead sent from Salesforce to Cloze is "00Qj000000A4m38" then the combination of the App ID of salesforce.com and Lead ID of 00Qj000000A4m38 will ensure we always merge any update to this Salesforce record with the correct person in Cloze.
When sending new Mailchimp subscribers to Cloze:
Source App ID = mailchimp.com
Source Person Unique ID = Web ID (Mailchimp’s unique contact identifier)
For example if the Web ID for a new subscriber is sent from Mailchimp to Cloze is "122894241" then the combination of the App ID of mailchimp.com and Web ID of 122894241 will ensure we always merge any update to this Mailchimp record with the correct person in Cloze.
