How do I set my preferred app for texting?

By default, Cloze will use your standard app for texting on your mobile phone and tablets. For example, on an iPhone when you tap on the texting icon and select a number, Cloze will default to the Messages app. Similarly, on an Android Cloze will also default to the Google Messages app.

On your computer, you may see other apps used by default. Typically on a Mac, you will see the Messages app used, but on a PC you may see other options like Skype.

You can change these settings on both the Cloze mobile app and the Cloze desktop web app (via a browser on cloze.com) to use other services like:

  • DialPad
  • Zoom Phone
  • WhatsApp
  • RingCentral
  • Skype
  • and others

Some services like DialPad, Zoom Phone, RingCentral, etc. require a separate subscription.

Once changed, you can initiate a call or text message directly from Cloze using your preferred service.

To enable this option please make the following changes in Settings.

1.) Tap on More (...) in the lower right of your screen on mobile (iOS/Android) and lower left on cloze.com.

2.) Tap on Settings

3.) Scroll down and tap on Calling, Notes, and Maps to expand the section.

4.) Tap on the dropdown in the Texting section and make your selection.

Note: By default, Cloze will use the standard apps that come with your phone or computer. You only need to make changes here if you prefer to use a different app for messaging or texting.

  • The Default Testing App option uses the "tel:" URI / URL scheme.
  • The Default Messaging App option used the "im:" URL / URL scheme.

Please note that you can select a different service for each device on which you use Cloze.
