How do I edit my mapping if there are bad values?

After uploading your spreadsheet, if there is an issue with your mapping, you will see a warning. Tap on "Edit" to resolve issues.

Warning shows issues with values; Tap on Edit

After tapping on "Edit":

When you import a file into Cloze, Cloze will suggest a mapping however you need to adjust the mappings of columns from your file to a field in Cloze. This screen helps you do that.

Left Side: Input Columns Right Side: Mapping to Cloze
  • This section lists the columns from your imported file that still need mapping.
  • Under Task, choose where each column should go in Cloze (e.g., address fields, custom fields).
  • If a column shows (none), it hasn’t been mapped yet.
  • This is where you define what Cloze records each row in your file will create or update.
Left are columns from your imported file; Right are mapping to Cloze columns

1.) On the right side, tap on "Mapping for first person".

2.) Scroll down until you see the field with the error message.

In this example, we are editing the Lead Source custom field.

3.) Tap on the field where you see the error message.

For this example, we are editing the Lead Source Values.

4.) Match your Imported Value to a value in Cloze.

In this example, we need to match "advertisement" to a value in Cloze.

Tap on the dropdown menu:
  1. Select a value in Cloze (it can be any value, it does not have to match the term).

If the value in Cloze doesn't exist, scroll down to the Other Mappings section:
  1. Pass Through: If the value doesn't exist in Cloze, it will be created in Cloze but you cannot filter by it.
  2. Fail Row Import: Any rows where this value appears will be rejected when imported. That row will not be imported into Cloze.
Choose an existing value or scroll down to the Other Mappings section.

5.) Edit the Default Value

If you have multiple values not in Cloze, you can change the default behavior:

  • Pass Through: This will do a pass through for all values; if they do not exist in Cloze, they will be added but you cannot filter by those values.
  • Fail Row Import: This will fail any rows that contain values that do not exist in Cloze. That row will not be imported into Cloze.
Edit the default behavior for all values

6.) After you have resolved all errors, tap on Done in the lower left until you get back to "Review Mapping" screen.

Tap on Done in the lower left.
Tap on Done in the lower left.
Tap on Import then Dry run or Import
Tap on Import then Dry run or Import

7.) Once on the "Review Mapping" screen, tap on Import and then select one of the following: Dry Run or Import

  • If you choose Import, your data is validated and is added to Cloze. Any rejected rows can be downloaded with the reason for rejection. Imported data will be ready for you to work with right away.
  • If you choose Dry Run, Cloze will check your mapped columns without importing data. You can download rejected rows with reasons, review them, and fix your mapping or file—or decide to import as is. When you’re ready to import, run the process again and select Import to add your data to Cloze.
