Advanced Kiosk Mode (Open House App)
Note: The Cloze Open House App is available on the Cloze Enterprise plan. This feature is in Beta.
If you do not want visitors freely using your iPad or Android tablet during an open house, you can add Kiosk Mode directly to your Home Screen for a more app-like experience.
iPad
To create a more app-like and secure Kiosk Mode experience during your open house, we recommend two steps:
- Add Kiosk Mode to your Home Screen
- Enable Guided Access (Optional)
Step 1: Add Kiosk Mode to Your Home Screen
Adding Kiosk Mode to your Home Screen removes normal browser tabs and creates a cleaner experience for visitors.
- Open the Kiosk Mode link in Safari.
- If you opened the link from within Cloze, make sure it launches in the full Safari browser instead of the in-app browser.
- Tap the Share button in Safari.
- Tap Add to Home Screen.
- Enter a descriptive name for the shortcut.
- Tap Add.
You can now launch Kiosk Mode directly from your Home Screen like an app during your open house.
When launched this way, Safari browser tabs are hidden, which helps prevent visitors from switching between tabs during check-in.
Step 2: Enable Guided Access (Optional)
Adding Kiosk Mode to your Home Screen only prevents visitors from switching browser tabs. It does not prevent someone from leaving the app entirely or switching to another app on your device.
For a more secure kiosk setup, Apple recommends using Guided Access. Guided Access locks the device to a single app and requires your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID to exit.
Android Device
- Open the Kiosk Mode link in Chrome.
- If you opened the link from within Cloze, make sure it launches in the full Chrome browser instead of the in-app browser.
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app (the wording may vary by device).
- Enter a descriptive name for the shortcut.
- Tap Install.
You can now launch Kiosk Mode directly from your Home Screen like an app during your open house.
