How do I enable two-step (two factor) authentication?

Cloze provides multiple layers of security around your information, from access-protected data centers to network and application-level security. We use oAuth when we can. Sensitive information, such as your email, messages, and passwords, is always encrypted. 

We also provide support for 2-factor authentication to protect your Cloze account further. 

Cloze supports two options:

  1. Send a text message to your phone [paid subscription accounts only]
  2. Use an authenticator app (like 1Password, Google Authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator).

1.) Tap on More (...) in the lower right of your screen on mobile (iOS/Android) and lower left on cloze.com.

3.) Tap on My Account to expand the section and tap on the Enable button next to 2-step authentication.

1.) Enable with mobile phone number [paid accounts only]

Please note that using a mobile number for 2-step authentication requires a paid subscription plan. You can use an authenticator app for all plans including the free plan (see below for instructions on how to set up this option). 


5.) Enter the security code Cloze sent to your mobile number.

Tap on "Use an authenticator app" and then continue with the setup.
