How do I send a Canva HTML email with Cloze?
With Canva, you can design beautiful, on-brand emails in minutes and send them through Cloze. Simply create your email in Canva, and then tap the Share button to send the email with Cloze.
Tip: Your Design Must be a Canva Email design to send via Cloze Email (otherwise it will send as a picture, not HTML.
1.) Verify you have installed the Cloze app for Canva
The easiest way to add the Cloze app for Canva is to click here.
You can also install the Cloze app in Canva from any design or the Canva home page. Here are step-by-step instructions.
2.) While viewing your email design, tap on the Share button in the upper right corner.
- Tap on the Share button.
- Select See All.
3.) Search for and select Cloze in the publish menu.
- Select the search box: "How would you like to publish?"
- Type "Cloze".
- Select Cloze from the results.
4.) Select publishing options (e.g., recipients, footers).
- Format: Select HTML email (not image)
- Select Page: Leave as is (page 1).
- Publish Action: Select Send Email. We do not recommend sending image-only emails.
- Recipients: Decide later or select a Cloze audience.
- Subject: Enter the subject of your email.
- Footers: Select footers. We recommend including the Legal Footer for all mass emails.
- Publish Now: Click on the Publish Now button.
- Your content has been publish: Click on the Check it out button.
Tip: Use Cloze's Legal footer to ensure you have the required unsubscribe link in your email. Canva's optional email preferences / unsubscribe options are not supported when sending via Cloze.
5.) After you click on the Check it out button, Cloze will open with your Canva template.
Your email is ready to send via Cloze. We recommend previewing it and sending a test to yourself before sending it to your recipients.
- The audience you selected in Canva is automatically added to the To line. Tip: Enter #[name of your audience] (e.g., #my sphere to add one if you skipped the step in Canva.
- View your Canva HTML email in Cloze.
- Preview and send a test email: Tap on the arrow button to view sending options and send a test email. We highly recommend sending a test email to yourself before sending to your recipients.
Tip: Add an audience, tag, or subscription to the TO line.
In the TO line, you can enter the # symbol and then type the name of your audience, tag, or subscription.
Sending options:
- Send From: Change the email account you wish to send from.
- Send With: Send with personal or mass mail delivery. Cloze Enterprise users: Cloze will automatically switch to Mass Delivery for sends to over 500 people.
- Schedule: Schedule your email to be sent at another time.
- Preview: Select preview to view your email on desktop and mobile, and send a test email to yourself and others. See below for further instructions.
- Add Recipients: Add other recipients like their spouse.
- Opt-out: Check this to add an opt-out footer. Typically the legal terms footer includes the opt-out details. If you included it in Canva, this is not necessary.
- Tracking: Email open and link click tracking is on by default.
- Send: After you have previewed and send a test email to your self you can tap on the Send button to send your email.

In this example, the Personal Footer block and Legal Footer block were selected in Canva and added to the bottom of this email. In most cases, the legal footer will include the required unsubscribe link.

6.) Preview, test, and send.
- Desktop Preview: Preview of what the email will look like on computer email apps (e.g., Gmail on your laptop or Outlook on your PC).
- Mobile Preview: Preview what the email will look like on a mobile email app (e.g., Apple Mail app on your iPhone or Gmail app on your Android).
- Send Test: Highly recommended. Send a test email to yourself and others.
After you tap on the test button, you can enter other recipients.
- Recipients: You are added automatically as a recipients. Search and add others as needed.
- Send as a Mail Merge: Each recipient receives their own copy of the test email.
- Send: Click on the send button to send your test email.
If you need to make changes to your email, you'll return to Canva to make the changes and then repeat the above steps to test and send your email.
Send your email
After you are satisfied with your testing, you send your email by tapping on the Send button.
