Mail Merge Reporting
Each mail merge includes analytics that show how it performed, from messages sent and opened to how recipients engaged. Bounced, Opt Out, and Reputation Impacted track your deliverability health, so you can keep your email reaching the inbox.
Mail Merge Analytics tracks each send so you can follow up based on how people engaged. From the detailed analytics view, you can see, and take action on, the people who:
- Viewed / Didn't Viewed
- Clicked / Didn't Click
- Replied / Didn't Reply
1.) Navigate to the Analytics section in your Cloze account.
1.) Tap on the Analytics tab (it looks like a bar graph) on the left-side menu.

If you do not see the Analytics tab:
- Tap on More in the lower left on your computer (cloze.com).
- Select Analytics.

2.) Under Mail Sending, tap on Mail Merges.

Review your high-level metrics and then dig into the details.

Tip: Many “opens” and “clicks” aren’t real people: Apple Mail automatically opens every email before the recipient sees it, and corporate security systems click links to scan them for threats. Cloze uses AI to filter that automated activity out, so Viewed, Clicked, and Replied reflect real people, with replies being the strongest signal your content landed.
- Subject: The subject of your email.
- Recipients: The audience or tags used to select the recipients of your mail merge.
- Date: The date you sent your mail merge.
- Queued: The number of email messages waiting to be sent while Cloze is processing and sending your mail merge.
- Sent: The number of email messages sent.
- Opened: The number of emails opened at least once, including automatic opens by spam checkers and Apple Mail (which loads emails without the recipient reading them). Like most other email marketing tools, an email can register as opened even if it goes to spam or the recipient never reads it.
- Viewed: A subset of Opened that counts how many emails were likely opened by real people. Cloze uses AI to filter out automatic opens, giving you a better idea of whether clients are looking at your email. Views may not be detected when the recipient uses mail privacy tools or has images turned off.
- Clicked: The number of emails where someone clicked a link, with AI filtering out automatic clicks from security scanners. This gives you a more accurate measure of engagement by counting genuine clicks rather than automated activity that other email marketing tools usually include. An even better measure of engagement is reply rate, which Cloze also tracks.
- Replied: The number of people that replied to your email. Generally considered the strongest content signal.
- Opt Out: Recipients who ask to stop receiving your emails. Keep it under ~0.5% per send; an opt-out is healthy, and far better than a spam complaint.
- Bounced: An email that couldn’t be delivered to the recipient and was returned instead. Keep it under 2% (under 1% is better). Over 5% is the danger zone, where providers start sending your email to spam or blocking it.
- Reputation Impacted: An RI tag means your recipients' email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) have flagged this send due to bounces, complaints, or unsubscribes. As a result, this and future mail from you may go directly to spam, even for your most engaged clients. To improve your sender reputation, only send to recipients who explicitly opted in, and send content they are interested in receiving.

Recipient Metrics
For each person, you can see how many times the email was opened, links clicked, and if they replied.
- Viewed: A subset of Opened (from the summary screen) that counts how many emails were likely opened by real people.
- Status: Sent, Bounced, or Opt Out.
