How do I edit the marketing email theme style settings?

Note: The Marketing Email feature is included as part of the Cloze Business Platinum Plan.

The theme settings you set here will be used as the basis for the marketing email templates you create.

You customize the default:

  • Layout (e.g. background colors)
  • Content Blocks (e.g. button styles, divider styles, text block alignment, image defaults)
  • Styles (e.g. text styles for H1, H2, paragraph text, etc.. including colors, fonts, size, and more)

Theme Styles

A style is a set of font attributes—such as size, color, and styling like bold, italic, and underline—that determines how text looks. When you style text to look a specific way, you can save that look as a marketing email theme style so that you can easily use it in other templates. Styles are applied to headings, paragraph text, and other elements.

Below are instructions on how to edit the default style settings.

Edit the Marketing Theme Style Settings

1.) Tap on More (...) in the lower right of your screen on mobile (iOS/Android) and lower left on cloze.com.

2.) Tap on Template Library

3.) Tap on the funnel icon and select Marketing Email.

4.) In the Marketing Emails - Building Blocks section Select the Marketing Email Theme.

5.) Tap on Edit.

6.) Tap on Theme to adjust the default theme layout.

The theme Style settings you set here will be used as the basis for the marketing email templates you create.

Tips regarding fonts

It is very common to have a special brand font that we use in print materials and graphics, but in many cases, these fonts do not work in email clients. Cloze automatically sets what is called the font-family property in the underlying HTML to hold several font names as a "fallback" system, to ensure maximum compatibility between browsers/operating systems. If the browser or email client does not support the first font, it tries the next font.

Brand style guides will always make recommendations for acceptable substitutions when the brand font is not accessible. We recommend using the recommended substitute fonts to help ensure proper digital display.

  • Web Fonts: If you use Web Fonts (instead of Web Safe Fonts), remember that they only work on about 50% of email apps (iPhone, iPad, Apple Mail, Google Android, Outlook for Mac, and the Outlook online App - collectively about 50% of email opens happen with these apps).
    • Web Fonts do not work in Gmail or desktop Outlook on Windows.
    • Your email will fall back to the nearest equivalent font on email apps that don't support Web Fonts.
    • What this means for you: Make sure to test your email on email apps that support web fonts and those that don't.
  • Fun Fact:  Roboto is the one Web Font that also works in Gmail - (so Roboto works on about 75% of email apps).
