How do I set the intended use of a template?

Marketing email templates have an Intended Use to define how the template is used in Cloze (e.g. a building block, new email, or a property template).

1.) Navigate to the Template Library

Please note you may see the Library on the left-hand screen navigation. If not follow the instructions below to access the More menu and then select the Template Library.

  1. Tap on More in the lower left on your computer (cloze.com).
  2. Select Template Library

2.) Select the template and tap on Edit

  1. Search for the marketing template by name or the content of the template.
  2. Tap on the marketing template.
  3. Tap on Edit or the pencil icon in the upper right.

3.) Select Template.

4.) Scroll down to Edit Controls and tap on the Intended Use menu.

  1. Edit Controls
  2. Intended Use

In the menu, you'll see several options:
  1. Unset - The template is not set with an intended use (we recommend setting one)
  2. Building Block - Embed within other templates
  3. Property Template - For Matching and Mail Re
  4. Article - An article to embed in a newsletter
  5. New Mail - A starting point for sending mail
  6. New Template - A starting point for new templates
  7. New Mail or Template - Can be used for either of the above

Examples

Intended Use: Building Block

For example, to set a template as a Building Block you would set the Intended Use as Building Block.

When creating a new template building blocks are shown on the right side of the screen. You can drag and drop a building to add them to a template.

  1. Tap on Add on the right side of the screen.
  2. Scroll down and find the building block category (in this example it is called "Minimal").
  3. Tap on the + or drag the building block to the specific section of the template.
  4. Release the block where you would like to add it.

Intended Use: Property Template

Like Building Blocks, you also will set the Intended Use for templates that include property information. Property templates are different in that they can behave like a building block or a new email.

In this scenario, the template behaves more like it is embedded in an email.
  • The agent typically curates a list of properties and sends a regular email - the properties are listed below their signature
  • These templates automatically add the agent's personal signature (because they are using personal email)
Note: if you include a Personal Footer Cloze will not show their personal signature to avoid doubling up on contact info.

When an agent sends a listing they can select any template that has been defined as a Property Template by clicking on the tag icon.

  1. While viewing a property tap on the Send Email Icon
  2. Select Re Property
  3. or Select To Property Matches (this will create a Mail Merge email to all potential buyers who have search criteria that match the listing)

Cloze will automatically select the last Property template you used.

  1. Tap on the tag icon to select a different Property Template.
  2. Select a Property Template from the menu.
  3. Add a personal note.
  4. Tap on the Send button to send the email.

Intended Use: New Mail (with property information)
In this scenario, the property template behaves like any other marketing email template. For these templates, you should add blocks like the Personal Footer, Brand Footer, and Legal Terms footer.
Property templates that are used as part of automated campaigns (like a saved search campaign or newsletter with featured listings included) should be set as Intended Use: New Mail.
